That amounted to 60 percent of the Manhattan Project's total budget, according to D. Ray Smith, a retired historian for the Y-12 National Security Complex who also is the historian for the City of Oak Ridge and a columnist for the Oak Ridger, a local newspaper. The Rose City Golf Course clubhouse, built in 1932, is on the National Historic Registry. The EAGLE Caddie Program (Early Adventures in Golf for a Lifetime of Enjoyment) is a unique internship program that is a cooperative venture between Portland Parks & Recreation, The Western Golf Association Evans Scholars Foundation, and public and private high schools located within the city of Portland. Over forty full-time and part-time City employees maintain the five PP&R Golf courses. Please note that dogs should not be brought onto PP&R Golf courses. All courses follow best practices from the PP&R Integrated Pest Management Program and PP&R's Urban Forestry division. In fiscal year 2024, over 296,000 rounds were played on Portland Parks Golf courses. That doesn't mean that you can walk straight out of your job and into the classroom, however: You'll most likely need to receive a master's degree in education, which can be completed in one year of full-time study, or two years of part-time evening or online classes.
